Due to impulsive trips to Melbourne and making a dog run, the vege garden isn’t as far along as I would like, but I’m not going to beat myself up over it.

We went to a great wee plant sale at the Ohoka School where we picked up a few plants. Thyme and Sage went into the herb garden, we have some irises still to plant and some spinach went into the garden. We also got a courgette seedling but I got caught out by a frost and it died. The cucumber seedlings also didn’t like it but one is still surviving and I have made it a wee hothouse out of an old juice bottle for it.

I have planted some lettuce and cabbage seedlings that we started from seed into the garden under a cloche, seem to be doing ok but I just have to keep remembering to water them. I planted a few more seed potatoes, the first lot are up and survived the late frosts.

The garlic is looking great, and should be ready for harvesting about the longest day. Some basil seeds that I planted have just sprouted, I am growing them in an old strawberry punnet which seems to be working.

The snow peas that I planted near the start of winter are now going crazy.

Heaps more that I want to get in, but still plenty of time.
