We went and visited the Small Farm Field Day yesterday in Rangiora. It was a very cold day but we dressed up warmly and went to see what we could be tempted by. It was a little bit disappointing that there wasn’t more to see but it was still worth the $5 to get in. There were a few $4000 ride on mowers that would have been nice but were well out of our budget. There were different animal groups there, but most of them were alpacas! AlpacasI was hoping that there was going to be different sheep breeders there but there was nothing like that. My lovely wife is keen to get alpacas but they are not high on my wish list.

We then checked out the dog agility demonstration which was really good. Most of the dogs were really good, but the ones that made mistakes were pretty entertaining as well.Dog Agility

The most worthwhile stand I thought was a fertiliser place that seemed to recommend a more natural method of fertilising than just throwing on super phosphate. I’ll email them our soil test results that we got a while back, and see what they have to say.

Had a hot dog to finish the day off.
