Noah had his 2nd birthday on Sunday. He had a lovely day with a small morning tea with some of his and our friends. He was way too spoilt with presents, which he is still discovering and being delighted with. A big thanks to everyone who came to celebrate.

This is a post of a pretty normal day for Noah, he will be 8 months old in 2 days.
He woke up just before 7am in a good mood, chatting away to himself.
He then goes into the big bed for a feed with Mum,
before having a second breakfast of solids, normally some sort of mush, often with some blueberries in it. This morning it was just some weetbix.
Sometimes he isn’t that excited about getting his face wiped.
After breakfast he normally has another sleep, and this morning it was a bit of a marathon, over 2 1/2 hours. It’s then out of the pj’s and into some clothes. He uses a mixture of disposable and cloth nappies, this one is one that was made by Mum.
A bit of a play on the floor is next before it’s time for another meal.
Lunch today was left over roast veges from last night.
Noah and I then jumped into the ute for a trip to a classic car show that was going on up the road.
A lot of nice cars, but obviously the pick of them were these 2.
Noah’s cousins came around for a visit and helped him play with one of his favourite toys, the big inflatable ball. It was a pretty warm day which is why he’s got his shirt off.
A bit of jolly jumper action next which he loves.
It was getting on towards the end of Noah’s day, so time for another feed after all his excitement, some mushed up veges today.
It was then into the bath for a wash and a splash.
Back into his jammies, read a story,
into his sleep sack, teeth cleaned (all 6), and into bed. Pretty sleepy but not entirely convinced it was bedtime,
but a few minutes later was sound asleep, and still is as I write this.
He is absolute wee angel, and although it is not smiles all the time he is normally really happy and great fun to be around. We love him to bits.

Noah and I were hanging out having breakfast this morning, although his idea of breakfast seems to be trying to make his food as soggy as possible! He’ll be 6 months old this Thursday.

It was a lovely Autumn day yesterday so after I got back from work we set off to the beach. A wee bit of effort to get Noah and Toby organised, but well worth it. There was hardly anyone about so we let Toby off lead and he loved it! We were at the Pines Beach near Kaiapoi.

My mum gave us a great Christmas present last year, a Recipe Book of all of the family recipes.
We are going to have a go at trying every recipe in the book this year. I was lucky enough to get the Sultana Cake for my birthday, and last night I made a very easy dessert, Sponge Pudding.
3 eggs
3Tbsp Sugar
3Tbsp Flour
1 1/2 Tbsp Corn Flour
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
Beat eggs and sugar well. Fold in dry ingredients.
Pour over stewed fruit. (I used some of our preserved peaches)
Bake at 190 degrees for about 25 minutes.
I did intend to take a photo after taking them out of the oven, but I tucked straight in and so here it is half-eaten,

Noah is doing very well, still waking up once during the night. He’s a great wee lad and we are loving watching him grow up.
Lucky for us Noah has continued to be a wee angel this week. We are sad that he will never know Angus. He continues to be unsettled in the late afternoon and evening but we are getting a few tricks to sort that. He loves having a bath or a shower, or hanging out in the front pack. He is putting on weight really well and we are starting to see a few smiles, but never when the camera is out. He had a day trip to Akaroa and was great in the car. It has been suggested that he has a bit of reflux but it doesn’t seem to be too bad. Still just waking up once at night. A great wee lad!

It’s been a great first couple of weeks getting to know our wee man. He has done a lot of sleeping, feeding and I am getting the hang of changing nappies.
My very kind brother in law delivered us another Christmas tree this month. He did the same last year, surely it is now a tradition? My lovely wife got it decorated today so Christmas has arrived at our cottage.

Angus
The Mrs here – am hijacking the blog just for a bit. I wanted to introduce you to the smallest two of our menagerie, Ceilidh and Angus (more often known as Monkey and Angusdon’tdothat, Angusleaveyoursisteralone and Angusdon’tscratchthecouch). Ceilidh is nearly 7 and Angus nearly 2 years old. They are both ex SPCA orphans and we wouldn’t be without them.
